Hot Cocoa – Oh, What Yum!

I have the pleasure of being a Guest Designer for this month’s Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge (#42).  This month, anything goes that is caffeine related, so a wide-open invitation to create.

My design was influenced by two other Christmas related challenges: Christmas or Not Bingo (#13), picking Letter “N” and selecting Animals as my Free Space for Jingle Belles (#2511).

I really do not have many stamp sets that feature Christmas Animals and/or Hot Drinks.  A Pinterest search with: Christmas, Animals, Coffee, and Line Drawing as descriptors brought up a slew of delightful images.  I couldn’t help smiling when I saw this cute little Hedgehog.  Apologies to the artist/illustrator as I could not find who created her to give proper credit.  If you know, please tell me and I will add details.

Here is the result:

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Accent Mat: (5¼” x 4”) Fresh Freesia retired Fine Shimmer Paper.  The Fine Shimmer Paper really sparkles but it is a bit hard to see in the photo.
  • Card Front: (8½” x 11”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Hedgehog image was computer printed onto the cardstock sheet and trimmed to (5” x 3¾”).
    • The scene was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Hedgehog – Light Smoky Slate; Cheeks and Ears – Light Bubble Bath; Hat, Mitts and Cup Heart – Light and Dark Bubble Bath with a bit of Light Fresh Freesia; Cup – Light Pretty in Pink and a bit of Fresh Freesia; Holly – Light and Dark Soft Sea Foam; Berries – Light Bubble Bath, Light Pretty in Pink and a bit of Light Fresh Freesia; Hat Puff and Shadows – Light Pool Party.
    • The sentiment, Oh, What Yum!, from the retired Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • Using a Blending Brush and Balmy Blue ink, the background was lightly colored.
    • Using my Fine-Tipped Black Liquid Gel Pen, details were highlighted to add more definition.

All layers were adhered to the card base. Snowflake Sparkles were added by placing Rhinestone Basic Jewels around the Hedgehog and on her Mittens.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today and I look forward to seeing what you will create for Caffeinated Christmas Cards this month. Cheers,  Jolanda!
