Bella & Friends – Birthday

Indulge me…Stampin’ Through The Catalog featured Artisan Constanze Wirtz yesterday and we are invited to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) her card.

Constanze created a CAS (clean and simple) card, a favorite style of mine, featuring Animals, Die-Cut Framing, soft coloring and a ribbon.  These are my takeaways.

My design choices were influenced by: Farm Quest (#71) to add Dogs and/or Cats; Heart Quest (#73) to add Green and/or White Hearts; Seize The Birthday (#306) to use Frames; and Retro Rubber (#255) for the Color Palette and to celebrate beloved retired rubber.

Here is the result:

BELLA & FRIENDS – PRETTY KITTY – ITTY BITTY BIRTHDAYS – STTC – FQCB71 – HQCB73 – STB306 – RRCB255

Steps:

  • Card Base: (11” x 4¼” scored at 5½”) Basic White Thick cardstock.
  • Frame: (4¼” x 4¼”) Smoky Slate cardstock die-cut with the largest Stitched Arch die from the Everyday Arches Dies set, an On-Line Exclusive product, finished size (3⅞” x 3⅞”).
  • Focal Panel: (4” x 3”) Basic White cardstock.
    • Bella with her Bone, from the retired Bella & Friends stamp set (circa 2016), was stamped first with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  She was stamped again onto a Post-It-Note, trimmed out and used as a Mask.
    • With Bella covered, Pretty Kitty in her Flowerpot, from the retired Pretty Kitty stamp set (circa 2016), was also stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • The sentiment, they say it’s your birthday, from the retired Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set (circa 2019) was stamped with Lost Lagoon ink.
    • The scene was then colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Bella – Dark Smoky Slate; Bella’s Heart Collar – Dark Granny Apple Green; Pretty Kitty – Light Smoky Slate; Kitty’s Nose and Ears – Light Flirty Flamingo; Pot – Light Lost Lagoon; Flowers – Light Peach Pie, Dark Flirty Flamingo, Dark Calypso Coral; Leaves – Light Granny Apple Green; and Shadows – Light Pool Party.
    • The scene was then die-cut with the next sized down Stitched Arch die.  Finished size (3½” x 3”)
  • A Ribbon Bow was tied around the Smoky Slate Frame using (14”) of retired White Crinkled Seam Binding, still in my stash.

A little glue, and all layers were adhered to the card base, completing the card.

A sweet little card with Bella offering up her Bone to Pretty Kitty as a birthday gift.

Thanks for spending even more of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!

  1. How delightful this little card is!!! I can just imagine this scene on someone’s porch or walk! The arch shape for the framing is trendy and echoes what the CASE card did. Thanks so much for incorporating FQCB #71 dog and/or cat theme for your selected animals! Fabulous card! — Becca

    1. P.S. Thanks x 2 from HQCB #73 A.G. with green and/or white heart(s)!! You’ve cleverly placed the green heart as part of the doggy’s tag/leash collar! I love seeing those kinds of ‘hidden in plain sight’ ways to do a theme! Appreciatively, Becca
