Plane & Simple – Happy Birthday

Hi again!  Back to my favorite clean and simple style…

A couple of CAS (clean and simple) challenges are featuring a similar theme: Things that Fly or have Wings.  I needed a guy birthday card, so I chose a Bi-Plane.

Paper Players (#738); CAS on Friday (#309); and AAA Cards (#290).

Bringing it all together with the Atlantic Hearts (#630) Sketch which is an ideal layout for a clean and simple card.

Here is the result:

PLANE & SIMPLE – THE RIGHT WORDS – PP738 – COS309 – AAACC290 – AHSC630

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Pool Party cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (3⅜” x 4⅝”) Pool Party Cloud patterned piece of paper from the retired Sunny Days Designer Series Paper pack.
    • The sentiment, Happy Birthday, from The Right Words stamp set was stamped with Lost Lagoon ink.
  • Shape – Bi-Plane: (3” x 1½”) Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The Bi-Plane image from the retired Plane & Simple stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with the Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends Marker.
    • The Bi-Plane was fussy-cut with Paper Snips and the open areas under the Plane Wings and Wheels were colored with the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blends Marker.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch, and the Bi-Plane was popped up with Dimensionals.

A quick and simple card most suitable for a fellow.

  1. What a great masculine card, Jolanda! The cloud paper is a perfect choice. This plane imagine gives the illusion of texture. Love it! Thank you for playing with The Paper Players this week!

  3. Why yes, an airplane does have wings!! Way to think outside the box and not use a flying creature!! Brilliant and perfect for our “things with wings” challenge!! Thanks for joining the fun and playing along with us over at CAS on Friday!! Deb Horst, DT #309
