Gallery Blooms – You Make Me Smile

Welcome back!  How can it already be Friday?  The week just flew by…

Today, I am creating for the Cookie Challenge (#204) featuring Pretty Flowers, selecting the Creative Colour (#192) Palette with the Freshly Made Sketch (#685), which I flipped to the vertical position to better accommodate my selected image and sharing with Shopping Our Stash (#547) for using the red wine color – Cherry Cobbler.

Here is the result:

GALLERY BLOOMS – HAPPY HIBISCUS – CC204 – CCC192 – FMS685 – SOS547

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4⅛” x 5⅜”) Cherry Cobbler cardstock.
    • The sentiment, You make me smile, from the Happy Hibiscus stamp set, an On-Line Exclusive product, was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder and then the panel was dry-embossed with the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Side Block: (1½” x 5”) Petal Pink cardstock double die-cut with the (3¼” x 4¾”) Stitched Rectangle die from the Textured Notes Dies set, also an On-Line Exclusive product, and then also dry-embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder for a little light texture.
  • Accent Mat: (3” x 4½”) Old Olive cardstock die-cut with the (2¾” x 4¼”) Stitched rectangle die, from the same Die set.
  • Focal Panel: (2¾” x 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Triple Floral image from the Gallery Blooms stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors Chosen: Blooms – Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler, and Greenery – Light and Dark Old Olive.
    • Using a Blending Brush, Petal Pink ink was added to the background.
    • The Flowers were then die-cut with the (2¼” x 3¾”) Stitched Rectangle die, from the same Die set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the flipped sketch.  The framed Floral Panel was popped up with Dimensionals and a few Antique Pearls were added for decoration.

A lovely card.  The sentiment makes me think about my mother…so if she were still here, this would be my choice for a Mother’s Dat card.  However, the sentiment and the pretty flowers makes this a suitable card for many occasions.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!

  2. This is gorgeous. The deep red flowers remind me of my mom’s peony bush (now my daughters) that blooms on the side of their house. Loving those dies, must check them out.
