Happy Hibiscus – Best Friend Ever

Welcome back!  It’s Friday!  Hoping you will have a fantastic weekend.

So, I have a lot of challenges that contributed to today’s card.

Starting with Double Trouble (#189) and the 3-2-1 Recipe (Three Pastel Colors; at least two words in the Sentiment; and one – make a Slimline card) based on the Try A Sketch on Tuesday (#668) Layout.

That said, I selected the Pastel Color Trio suggested by Stampin’ Up! Only (#374) and a Friendship Greeting for Cupcake Inspirations (#616).

Additional choices were influenced by the Tic Tac Toe (#269) Board Line: Die-Cut(s) / Fun Fold / Flowers and sharing with Paper Craft Crew (#618) looking for a Fun Fold and Alphabet (Letter A), choosing the Letter “F” for Flower / Friendship / Fun Fold.

Here is the result:

HAPPY HIBISCUS BUNDLE – COUNTRY FLOWERS – DT189 – TSOT668 – SUOC374 – CIC616 – TTTC269 – PCC618 – ACB Letter A

Steps:

  • Card Base: (10½” x 6” scored at 3½ and 7”) Peach Pie cardstock for a triple diagonal Slimline Fun Fold.
    • Diagonal Cut: Front Bottom Panel – (1½” to 3”); and Center Panel – (Top Corner to 3”).
  • Accent Panels: Lemon Lolly cardstock.  Cut Sizes: Back Panel (3¼” x 5¾”); Center Panel (3¼” x 5½” diagonal cut to 2¾”); and Front Panel (3¼” x 2¾” diagonal cut to 1¼”).
  • Background Panels: Multi-color Pastel Bokeh Dots patterned pieces of paper from the Beautiful Bokeh Designer Series Paper pack.  Cut Sizes: Back Panel (3” x 5½”); Center Panel (3” x 5¼” diagonal cut to 2⅝”); and Front Panel (3” x 2⅜” diagonal cut to 1”).
    • The sentiment, Best – Friend – Ever, from the Country Flowers stamp set, still available but on the Last Chance List, was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on the Front Panel.
  • Decoration – Flowers: Basic White cardstock.
    • The Triple Floral image and the Two Leaf images from the Happy Hibiscus stamp set were also stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen:  Blooms – Light and Dark Lemon Lolly and Peach Pie and Leaves – Light and Dark Soft Sea Foam and then die-cut with the coordinating dies from the Happy Hibiscus Hybrid Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Flowers were popped up with Dimensionals.

A pretty Fun Fold Mini Slimline friendship card.

  1. Jolanda, what a beautiful card you’ve created that meets the requirements of seven challenges! Of course, I especially appreciate the 3-2-1 parts of Double Trouble, and the sketch from our sister challenge Try A Sketch On Tuesday!! Your color palette is so pretty, and the fun fold is perfect for our challenges!!! -Donna

  2. Such a bright and beautiful floral card, Jolanda! The Slimline fun fold enhances your design perfectly. Having lived in Florida and Arizona, I loved having Hibiscus in my gardens. Thank you for joining us at TSOT and Double Trouble. (Fun fact: Yellow Hibiscus is the state flower of Hawai’i.)
