Thankful Garden – Bright Days

Design Time: Facebook Case-ing Tuesday (#509) CASE-Ing Challenge where we copy and selectively edit a card found within Stampin’ Up!’s current catalogs.  Today?  The card can be found on page 50 of the Jan – Apr Mini Catalog.

I really liked the “window” aspect of the sample and chose a different shape which meant the card looked better in the vertical orientation.

My design was influenced by the Just Add Ink (#747) Mood Board colors and top left photo.

Additionally, I am sharing this card with Color Dare (#648) by adding Gray as my additional color; Ellibelle’s I Spy (#25) for May Flowers; and Double D (#041525) for Spring Flowers.

Here is the result:

THANKFUL GARDEN BUNDLE – SKETCHED BUTTERFLIES – CT509 – JAI747 – CD648 – EIS025 – DD041625

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Lemon Lolly cardstock.
    • A Window was cut out using the (2⅝” x 3⅞”) Arch die from the Everyday Arches Dies set, an On-Line Exclusive product and then dry-embossed with the new Glass Embossing Folder, also an On-Line Exclusive product that will be available in May.
  • Window Trim: (3” x 4”) Smoky Slate cardstock die-cut with both the (2⅝” x 3⅞”) and (2¼” x 3½”) Arch dies from the same die set.
  • Focal Image – Flower: (3½” x 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Floral image from the Thankful Garden stamp set, also an On-Line Exclusive product, was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • Using Blending Brushes and the coordinating Thankful Garden Decorative Masks set, Lemon Lolly and Smoky Slate inks were added.
    • The Flower was then die-cut with the coordinating die from the Thankful Garden Dies set.
    • I chose to trim the white edge around the die cut with Paper Snips for a cleaner finish.
  • Sentiment Label: (2¾” x ⅝”) Smoky Slate cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, You brighten up so many of my days, from Sketched Butterflies stamp set, still available but on the Last Chance List, was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder and then die-cut with the Stitched Banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the flipped sketch.  The Flower was popped up with Dimensionals and tucked into the Window.  A few Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added for a bit of bling.

A pretty friendship card.

I am looking forward to seeing your project based on this week’s sketch.
