Spotlight on Nature – Thanks

Happy Easter!  Carving out a few moments from this day for a little creativity.

For Facebook’s Colour INKspiration (#185) Palette I selected the Freshly Made (#682) Sketch and I am sharing with As You See It (#346) for using my favorite and can’t do with out Tool, the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.

Here is the result:

SERENE LOVE DSP – SPOTLIGHT ON NATURE – CI185 – FMS682 – AYSI364

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Old Olive cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Basic Gray cardstock cut into three pieces.
    • The inside edges of the three pieces were die-cut with the edge of the largest Rectangle die from the retired Deckled Rectangles Dies set.
    • Accent Strips: Petal Pink and Fresh Freesia cardstock scraps were set in between the three pieces.
    • Once assembled, the Panel was dry-embossed with the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Shape – Circle: (3” x 3”) Old Olive cardstock die-cut with (2¾”) Circle die from the retired Deckled Circles Dies set.
    • The sentiment, thanks, from the Spotlight on Nature stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • The Circle was then dry-embossed with the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.  This is a favorite because it gives just enough texture yet can be used with embossed sentiments without distorting the font.  A secret…I bought a replacement upon retirement, so if it ever broke, I still had a backup.
  • Focal Image – Flowers: Fussy cut Double Flower from one of the patterned pieces of paper from the now retired Serene Love Designer Series Paper pack.
    • The Flowers were colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Light and Dark Fresh Freesia, Petal Pink and Old Olive.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Flowers were popped up with Dimensionals.

Always handy to have a stash of Thank you cards.

  1. That’s so pretty! Clever way to showcase the sketch with the cut & embossed paper – and I don’t think you’re alone in hanging on to retired embossing folders! Great plan to invest in a spare, by the way! Thanks for playing along at As You See It challenge

  2. Ah, the Subtle 3D embossing folder – a favourite of so many! You’re clever to have bought a back up EF, just in case. You’re clearly planning to go a lifetime with that tool! I just love the textures, subtle or otherwise in your card and your lovely floral focal point! Thanks for filling in our blank at As You See It!

  3. The Subtle embossing folder – yes, another one that I won’t be parting with either! I really like the way you’ve used a dark background, then filled the tears with colour – very pretty. Thanks for joining in with us at As You See It.
