Celebrate – Have A Hippy 5th Birthday

Welcome back!  Friday again…where did the week go?  I have a great combination for you today.

Stampin’ Up! has asked the question: THIS or THAT with regards to a couple of sketch layouts and I chose “THAT”.

Over at Facebook’s Colour INKspiration (#184), we are given a playful set of bright colors that I felt would be fun for a KID card.

Over at Seize the Birthday (#302), the Topping option is a Milestone, and I chose “5” and this tied in nicely with Krafty Chicks (#762) and their Birthday theme.

Rounding out my design decisions, I used a selection of Dies for Just Us Girls (#769) and added two Sentiments for Inkspirational (#338).

Here is the result:

HIPPEST HIPPO – DAY TO CELEBRATE – HAPPY LITTLE THINGS – CCSU – C!184 – STB302 – KCC762 – JUGS769 – IC338

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Azure Afternoon cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (3½” x 4½”) Basic White cardstock dry-embossed with the Starstruck Embossing Folder, a 2025 Sale-a-bration option, now retired.
  • Strips: (4½” x 1”) Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade, Azure Afternoon, Garden Green and Mossy Meadow cardstock off cuts.
    • The word Celebrate from the retired Happy Little Things stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • Each Strip was die-cut with the edges of the (4” x 2½”) Rectangle die from the now retired Deckled Rectangles Dies set.  Finished Size: (3¾” x ⅝”).
  • Shape – Circle: (3” x 3”) Daffodil Delight cardstock die-cut with the (2½”) Circle die from the now retired Deckled Circles Dies set and also dry-embossed with the Starstruck Embossing Folder.
  • Decoration: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The cute little Hippo image from the retired Hippest Hippos stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with the Light Pretty in Pink and the Light and Dark Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends Markers and die-cut with the coordinating die from the retired Hippo Dies set.
    • The right “hand” was fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
  • Sentiment Label: Azure Afternoon cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the Day to Celebrate stamp set, another 2025 Sale-a-bration option, now retired, was also stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.  Trimmed Size: (1¾” x ¼’).
  • For the Milestone Number, the Number 5, was die-cut with a die from the retired Playful Alphabet Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Hippo and the Sentiment Label were popped up with Dimensionals and the Sentiment Label was slipped under the Hippo’s “hand”.
