Framed Scenes – Embrace the Journey

Design Time: Hand Stamped Sentiments (#460) Color Challenge and Facebook Case-ing Tuesday (#506) Challenge where we copy and selectively edit a card found within Stampin’ Up!’s current catalogs.  Today?  The card can be found on page 18 of the Jan – Apr Mini Catalog.

Today’s design incorporates the Just Us Girls (#768) Stencil Challenge and the Paper Craft Crew (#614) Simple Stamping Challenge.

Here is the result:

FRAMED SCENES – EVERYDAY ARCHES – HSSCC460 – CT506 – JUGS768 – PCC614

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Pecan Pie cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Linen Texture patterned piece of paper from the Woven Textures Designer Series Paper pack, an On-Line Exclusive product.
    • The sentiment, Embrace the journey, from the Everyday Arches stamp set, also an On-Line Exclusive product, was stamped with Pecan Pie ink.
  • Side Panel: (1½” x 5¼”) Pretty Peacock Two-Tone cardstock (light side).
    • Using a Sponge Dauber and Pretty Peacock ink the “Nautical Knots” patterned Stencil from the retired Foursquare Decorative Masks set was added.
  • Accent Strip: (½” x 5¼”) Pecan Pie Two-Tone cardstock (light side).
    • Both the Side Panel and the Accent Strip were hand-torn to expose the white core.
  • Focal Image: Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper scrap.
    • The Lighthouse Scene image from the Framed Scenes stamp set, also an On-Line Exclusive product, was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Lighthouse and Rocks – Light and Dark Pecan Pie; Lighthouse Railings – Light Summer Splash; Trees – Light Summer Splash and Light Pretty Peacock; Water – Light Summer Splash; Grass – Dark Soft Sea Foam; and Lighthouse Reflection – Light Crumb Cake.
    • The Scene was then punched out using the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch and the Shape was edged with Pecan Pie ink applied with a Sponge Dauber.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Scene was popped up with Dimensionals.

A nice encouragement and/or retirement card with a definite masculine feel.

I am looking forward to seeing how you choose to use both the colors and the sketch if you choose to play with the challenges this round.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!
