Wildflower Designs – Happy Thoughts

Hi again!  Back to my favorite clean and simple style of card making…

Over at AAA Cards (#286), we are challenged to “follow the leader” and CASE (copy and selectively edit) a card created by Kristin Sluhan.

My takeaway was the single image, single sentiment and some splatter.

My design was influenced by the: Just Us Girls (#767) Mood Board for colors and subject; CAS on Friday (#305) with a Spring theme; Make My Monday (#248) to Make It Green; and I am sharing this card with Krafty Chicks (#760) for their CAS week.

Here is the result:

BLESSED EASTER – WILDFLOWER DESIGNS – QUIET MEADOW – AAACC286 – JUGS767 – COS305 – MMM248 – KCC760

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Old Olive cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.
    • Using the Wide-Tipped Water Painter Brush, water was applied directly to the paper and then Old Olive ink was picked up from the Ink Pad Lid and added to create a watercolor washed background.
    • Just before the watercolor wash was completely dry, the Splatter image from the retired Quiet Meadow stamp set was stamped with 2nd Generation (stamped off once) Old Olive ink.  This allowed for a little bit of blurring.
    • Once dry, the sentiment, Sending happy thoughts, from the Wildflower Designs stamp set was stamped with Old Olive ink.
  • Focal image – White Tulips: (2” x 4”) Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.
    • The Tulip image from the retired Blessed Easter stamp set, a particular favorite, was stamped with Old Olive ink.
    • Using the Fine-Tipped Water Painter Brush, the lines were blurred to create “white” tulips and green leaves.
    • Once dry, the Tulips were fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble Kristin’s card.  The Tulips were popped up with Dimensionals.

So soft and pretty.  A really nice all occasion card.

Thanks for spending some more of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!

  2. Amazing card Yolanda! I was going to look up the tulip in the online store cuz now I want it. Retired, sadly, not sure how I missed it. And I know it’s a little odd but I like your splatters here, looks so natural.  Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful CAS card with us at The Krafty Chicks Challenge! So nice to see you in the gallery.
