Under The Sea – Love You

Welcome back!  We are having a lovely morning for the first day of Spring.  I am not ruling out rain and or frosty morning temperatures yet, but it sure is pretty right now.

Several challenges for you today: Retro Rubber (#250) with an “under the sea” theme; Facebook Colour INKSpiration (#183) for the colors; Addicted to CAS (#278) for the style and the tools; and bringing it all together, the Stampin’ Up! Only (#372) sketch.

Here is the result:

A FISH AND A WISH – FRIENDS ARE LIKE SEASHELLS – SEASCAPE – BOTANICAL LAYERS – RRCB250 – CI183 – ATCAS278 – SUOC372

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Blueberry Bushel cardstock.
  • Card Front: (4” x 5¼”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Seaweed type Plant image from the retired Botanical Layers stamp set (circa 2022) was stamped with Crushed Curry ink.
    • The image was stamped again on to copy paper, fussy-cut with Paper Snips and used as a Mask.
    • A Stencil was created using copy paper and the (3” x 4”) Rectangle die from the retired Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits Dies set with the Scalloped Square die from the retired Framelits Squares Collection Dies set.
    • With the Stencil set in place, the “water” was created with Balmy Blue ink and a Blending Brush.
    • Removing the Stencil and the Mask, the Bubble image from the retired Seascape stamp set (circa 2021) was stamped with Blueberry Bushel ink.
  • Shapes – Fish: Basic White cardstock scraps.
    • The three Fish images from the retired A Fish And A Wish stamp set (circa 2022) were stamped with Blueberry Bushel ink and fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
  • Sentiment – Seashell: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The Seashell image and the sentiment, love you to the beach and back, both from retired Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set (circa 2021) were stamped with Crushed Curry and Blueberry Bushel inks respectively.
    • The Seashell was colored with Crushed Curry ink applied with a Blending Brush and then fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Fish and the Sentiment were popped up with Dimensionals.

A fun little friendship card…

  1. This is beautiful. It’s so elegant and I love the muted palette with the pop of yellow. Thanks for joining us at Retro Rubber this time. Claire RR DT

  2. I like how you stamped the greeting on the sand dollar, and great job masking around the seaweed. Thanks for playing along with us at SUO Challenges!

  3. Love this card and how you used different elements that were all perfectly themed to under the sea. The dimensionals on the fish help them look like they’re swimming
