Birthday Greetings – Wetlands

A nice birthday card for the men in your life…

Playing with the Retro Rubber (#247) Color Palette and choosing the purples to create a Monochromatic card for The Male Room (#195) and selecting the Birthday theme from Krafty Chicks (#754).

Here is the result:

WETLANDS – RRCB247 – TMR195 – KCC754

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Blackberry Bliss cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5½” x 4¼”) Lovely Lavendar cardstock (retired) die-cut with the (5⅛” x 3¾”) Rectangle die from the retired Stitched Rectangle Framelits Dies set.
  • Sentiment Block: The sentiment, Birthday Greetings, from the retired Wetlands stamp set (circa 2013) was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder in the center of the Background Panel and die-cut with the (1⅝” x 1¼”) Rectangle die from the same Dies set.
  • Oval Accent Mat: (4¾” x 3¾”) Blackberry Bliss cardstock die-cut with the (4⅜” x 3⅝”) Oval die from the retired Framelits Oval Collection Dies set.
  • Oval Focal Scene: (5½” x 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Goose and Grass images from the Wetlands stamp set were stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink.
    • A Mask was created for the Goose by stamping the image onto a Post-It-Note and trimming it out with Paper Snips.
    • Using a Blending Brush, retired Purple Posy ink was added to the image.  Blackberry Bliss ink is very highly pigmented and some of the ink color blurred with the Purple Posy for a really neat effect.
    • The Mask was removed, and the Goose was colored with the Light Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends Markers.
    • The distant Birds were added with the Dark Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Blends Marker.
    • The image was then die-cut with the (4” x 3”) Oval die from the same Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base and the Sentiment was popped up with Dimensionals.

Wetlands is one of my all time favorite stamp sets and it was nice to pull it out again for this card.

  3. Jolanda, I LOVE how you used this wonderful retired SU Wetlands stamp! You’ve inspired me to pull mine out and get creative. Blending the purple ink behind the image really “grounds” it with a sky anchoring it on the card!! Thank you for sharing your card and talents with us at The Male Room for our monochrome challenge!!! -Donna
