Simply Said – Happy Birthday

A quiet day for me and an opportunity to create another card.

This time I am inspired by the Just Add Ink (#735) color suggestions – Black, White, a pop of color and some Gold.  Over at Just Us Girls (#759), this week we are challenged to use Stencils.  I selected two from the retired Artistic Mix Decorative Masks to create a Plaid Pattern.  I Spy With My Little Eye (#22) is looking for something with Feathers.

My walk in the woods resulted in finding that a Golden Goose had lost a few…lucky me!

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
• Card Front: (4¼” x 5½”) Basic White cardstock.
  • The Grid Block Stencil was secured in place with low tack tape and Summer Splash ink was applied with a Blending Brush.
  • The Square Block Stencil was then set over top and secured with low tack tape and the Squares were outlined with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.
  • The Card Front was trimmed down to (4” x 5¼”).
  • The sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the Simply Said stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with Black Embossing Powder.
  • The Feather image from the retired Four Feathers stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with Gold Embossing Powder.

Hope you like my bold plaid and feathers for this masculine birthday card. So simple: Just Stamps, Ink and Paper along with a cool tool…stencils.
