Sketched Butterfly – Sending Love

Welcome back!

Today, I created a clean and simple card for Facebook Case-ing Tuesday (#495), where we CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) cards found within Stampin’ Up!’s current catalogs.  Today?  The card can be found on page 59 of the 2025 Mini Catalog.

You know that my favorite style of card is clean and simple, and my choices were influenced by AAA Cards (#281) with the optional twist to add things that fly in the air and the Paper Players (#720) color palette.

Here is the result:

SKETCHED BUTTERFLIES BUNDLE – SPOTLIGHT ON NATURE – COUNTRY FLOWERS – CT495 – AAACC281 – PP720

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Card Front: (4” x 5¼”) Basic White cardstock.
    • Using the recently retired Deckled Rectangles and Deckled Circles Dies, I created Masks from Copy Paper.  Deckled Rectangle (2¾” x 1⅜”) and Deckled Circle (2⅛”).
    • Using a Blending Brush and Bubble Bath ink (Light Pink tone), the Circle Shape was added and then masked.
    • Using another Blending Brush and Shy Shamrock ink (Green tone), the bottom Rectangle Shape was added and then masked.
    • Similarly, the Petunia Pop (Dark Pink tone) Rectangle Shape was added and masked.
    • Finally, the Peach Pie (Orange tone) Rectangle Shape was added.
    • All the Masks were removed.
    • Using the little Splatter image from the Spotlight on Nature stamp set and 2nd Generation (stamped-off once) Petunia Pop ink, the fairy dust was added.
  • Focal Image – Butterfly: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The Butterly image from the Sketched Butterflies stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Light Peach Pie, Petunia Pop and Shy Shamrock.
    • The Butterfly was then die-cut with the coordinating die from the Sketched Butterflies Dies set.
  • Sentiment Label: (2” x ½”) Basic White cardstock scrap with Peach Pie ink added with a Blending Brush.
    • The sentiment, sending love, from the Country Flowers stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

The sentiment was adhered to the card front and the Butterfly was popped up with Dimensionals and then the card front was adhered to the card base.

Really just a single layer and a little pop with the pretty butterfly, so simple.

I am looking forward to seeing how you choose to use the sketch.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!

  1. Beautifully masked and inked, Jolanda. At first glance, I thought you’d stamped with acrylic blocks but couldn’t see how you could have! Masking and inking works so well. The butterfly is a sweet focal point. The framing of the card base works perfectly. Thanks for sharing with us at The Paper Players. Happy New Year!

  2. Jolanda… great CAS card! Love that you made masks and blended the deckled rectangles, and the butterfly is wonderful. Thanks for joining and sharing at The Paper Players this week.
