Welcome back! Happy Saturday. Just finished up the last card class for 2024. We had fun and I am looking forward to seeing the ladies in the new year.
A couple of challenges combined: Creative Colour (#171) and the Tuesday Morning (#786) Sketch. I have to say both of these had me flexing my brain. Then one of my clients asked for a masculine birthday card…and my musings solidified.

Here is the result:

Steps:
- Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Night of Navy cardstock.
- Hand-Made Plaid patterned paper: (8½” x 11”) Basic White cardstock.
- Using a Ruler, Night of Navy – Light & Dark, Mossy Meadow – Light & Dark Stampin’ Blends Markers and Daffodil Delight – Medium & Dark retired Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers, I created the Plaid pattern. When cut into quarters, the sheet will yield eight corner pieces with enough left over to create (5″ x ⅝”) trim strips which we used inside the card.
- Corner Panel: (3¼” x 4⅜”) Hand-made Plaid patterned paper cut on the diagonal.
- Diagonal Strip: (⅝” x 8½”) Basic White cardstock scrap trimmed to fit.
- Both of these pieces were dry-embossed with the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder to look a bit like fabric.
- Shape (1): (3⅝” x 1⅝”) Crushed Curry cardstock with edges die-cut using one of the larger Rectangle dies from the Deckled Rectangles Dies set.
- The sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the Tune-In stamp set was stamped to the left with Night of Navy ink.
- Shape (2): (3¼” x 3¼’) Mossy Meadow cardstock.
- Two Pine Trees were die-cut with the single Tree die from the retired Pine Woods Dies set.
All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.
A really nice guy card. My client was delighted with it and it was well received by all the class attendees.
Thanks for spending some of your time with me today. Cheers, Jolanda!
