Nests of Winter – Cardinal Hello

And…it is Friday!  Lots happening today but I am sneaking a card in to meet a deadline.

Cupcake Inspiration (#607) is featuring warm toasty colors…but what to do?

Heart’s Quest (#67) is looking for at least three items on the list and I chose Cardinals, Woods and Woodgrain Heart which ties in nicely with Farm Quest (#65) looking for things found in the Woods.

I selected the Atlantic Hearts (#606) Sketch which I flipped to the vertical position to better accommodate my elements.

Here is the result:

NESTS OF WINTER DSP – ASPEN TREE DIES – CIC607 – HQCB67 – FQCB65 – AHSC606

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • Strips: (⅝”) wide by varying lengths – longest (4⅛”) Crushed Curry Ombre Dashed patterned piece of paper from the retired Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Accent Mat: (3¼” x 4½”) Pecan Pie cardstock die-cut with the (3” x 4¼”) Rectangle die from the Deckled Rectangles Dies set.
  • Tree Overlay: (4¼” x 5½”) Pecan Pie cardstock die-cut with the Oval Tree die from the retired Aspen Trees Dies set.
  • Underlay Panel: (3” x 4¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock die-cut with the (2⅝” x 3⅞”) Rectangle die, also from the Deckled Rectangles Dies set.
    • Using Blending Brushes, Crushed Curry and Pecan Pie inks were blending to create the sun-kissed sky.
  • The Tree Overlay was adhered over the Underlay and the piece was die-cut again with the (2⅛” x 3⅞”) Rectangle die.
  • Focal Image – Cardinals: The Cardinals were fussy-cut with Paper Snips from one on the Bird patterned pieces of paper from the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Sentiment: Very Vanilla cardstock scrap.
    • The word, Hello, was die-cut with the Hello die from the retired Greetings Thinlits Dies set.
  • Decoration – Heart: Pecan Pie cardstock scrap.
    • A single Heart was punched out using the retired Hearts Border Punch, dry-embossed with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder and then a wee bit of Craft White ink was added with my finger to bring out the texture.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the flipped sketch.  The Birds and the Heart were popped up with Dimensionals.

A pleasant walk in the woods…
