Welcome back! I have a few things on the go tomorrow and may not have time to work on the As You See It (#331) Speed Challenge and it is one of my favorites.

Can you create a card in 10 minutes or less? How long do you think it took me? I’ll let you know at the end.
The Theme is Trees, and I opted to play along with a few other challenges when considering my design. The Four Seasons (December) Inspiration Board is full of Snowy Trees and Shopping Our Stash (#536) is looking for a Winter card but not necessarily a Holiday card.

Here is the result:

The key to creating a quick card is to consider your design, arrange your supplies, have your necessary tools at hand, set the time and have fun.
- Cardstock: (8½” x 11”) Mossy Meadow and a Bone Folder.
- Designer Series Paper: (12” x 5½”) Mossy Meadow Green Striped Pattern from the Season of Green & Gold Specialty Designer Series Paper pack, an On-Line Exclusive product.
- Mother of Pearl Specialty Paper: (4” x 12”) Retired and in my stash.
- Cut & Emboss Machine / Painted Trees 3D Embossing Folder
- Sentiment stamp mounted on Clear Block – Peace on Earth from the Christmas Labels stamp set.
- Versamark Ink Pad and Silver Embossing Powder (which I keep in a small bucket with a spoon), Embossing Buddy and the Heat Tool ready to go..
- Sponge Dauber and Mossy Meadow Ink Pad
- Some Gems – Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
- Adhesive – Stampin’ Seal
Steps:
- Cut Cardstock in half for Card Base: (8½” x 5½”) and fold in half, burnishing with the Bone Folder.
- Cut the other half of the Cardstock to measure (3½” x 4¾”) for the Accent Mat.
- Trim the Patterned Paper to measure (4⅛” x 5⅜”).
- Trim the Mother of Pearl Specialty Paper to measure (3⅜” x 4⅝”).
- Using the Embossing Buddy pat the top of the Panel, ink the Sentiment and stamp in top right corner. Add Embossing Powder and heat-set with Heat Tool.
- Slip the Panel into the Embossing Folder, adjust position and pass through the Cut & Emboss Machine.
- With a Sponge Dauber, add Mossy Meadow ink to the resultant texture to bring out the Trees.
- Adhere all layers together and add a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels to complete the card.
I set the timer and it took me 6 minutes and 36 seconds.

I am really happy with how this card turned out. Do you like it?

Lovely to see you playing along with us at As You See It for the speed challenge. It can be quite addictive! Love those softly embossed trees and the addition of a swish of ink really brings out the pattern. The DSP in the background gives some nice colour too. Thanks for playing along with us this week. 🙂
