Layers of Beauty – In My Thoughts

Good afternoon!  Indulge me one more time today…there is a deadline, and I wanted to meet it.

Just Add Ink (#729) has a vibrant color selection this week.  Amid all of the Holiday fanfare, I was a little stumped…

I selected the Atlantic Hearts (#605) Sketch and am playing along with the Double Trouble (#180) partnership to add Stitching elements.

Here is the result:

LAYERS OF BEAUTY – POSED PEONY – SEASIDE WISHES – JAI729 – AHSC605 – DT180

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Petunia Pop cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4¼” x 5½”) Basic White cardstock die-cut with the (3¾” x 5⅛”) Rectangle die from the retired Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies set.
    • The sentiment, in my thoughts, from the Poised Peony stamp set was stamped with Afternoon Azure ink.
    • The small background dots were added with 2nd Generation (stamped-off once) Afternoon Azure ink and the small Dots image stamp from the Seaside Wishes stamp set.
  • Vertical Cross Strip: (1” x 6”) Basic White cardstock off-cut cardstock.
    • Using a Blending Brush, Afternoon Azure ink was added and then the Strip edges were die-cut with the same Stitched Rectangle die to add another stitching element.
  • Focal Image – Flowers: (4¼” x 5½”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Large Floral Spray image from the Layers of Beauty stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • Using Blending Brushes and the coordinating Layers of Beauty Decorative Marks, color was added.  Stencil #1 – Petunia Pop, Stencils #2 and #3 – Gorgeous Grape, and Stencils #4 and #5 – Granny Apple Green.
    • Using Paper Snips, the Flowers were closely cut and trimmed for the pieces I selected to add to the card.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Floral Decoration was popped up with Dimensionals.

As it happens, today brought some sad news and I actually need a sympathy card.

    1. Wow, beautiful rich colors and great distribution of the color challenge. My mom'[s favorite flowers were peonies, they lined our gardens across the back yard and picked and brought inside bringing a scent I will never forget. In AZ we our cactus florals are beautiful but lack the scent. Thanks for sharing your beautiful card with us at Double Trouble and your beautiful interpretation of the AHSC sketch.
