Skating Party on the Pond

Welcome back!  It has been a busy Saturday, and I am just getting into the Studio…

Creating a fun little winter card for a number of different challenges.

Over at Farm Quest (#64) the theme is Frozen Pond or Creek and Heart’s Quest (#66) has some coordinating elements on their list…Ice Skates, White Hearts and Silver Love Lettering.

The Word Inspiration Quote from Time Out (#277) includes Occasions and Festive Clothing and what better than a Skating Party to dress up for!

To bring it all together, I chose the Sketch suggested by Retro Rubber (#244) using a whole bunch of retired stamp sets and tools and I am sharing this card with Can You Handle The Pressure (#68) for their optional twist, Winter Fun.

Here is the result:

WINTER POST – SNOW FRONT – SPIRITED SNOWMEN – FQCB64 – HQCB66 – TOC277 – RRCB244 – CYHTP68

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Mossy Meadow cardstock.
  • Side Strip: (5½” x 2¼”) Mossy Meadow cardstock dry-embossed with the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder which was then lightly brushed with Versamark ink and heat-set with Silver Embossing Powder.
  • Accent Mat: (4¼” x 3”) Real Red and Cherry Cobbler Tapestry patterned piece of paper from the recently retired Traditions of St, Nick Designer Series Paper pack.  The Corners were rounded using the retired Detailed Trio Punch.
  • Focal Panel: (3½” x 2½”) Basic White cardstock die cut with the Arch die from the retired Garden Gateway Dies set.
    • The Skating Couple image from the retired Winter Post stamp set (circa 2008) was stamped with Basic Gray ink.
    • Additionally, another image was stamped on to a Post-It-Note and fussy-cut with Paper Snips to use as a Mask.
    • The Ice and Tree/Snow images rom the retired Snow Front stamp set (circa 2019) were stamped with Balmy Blue and Garden Green inks.
    • The Mask was removed, and the Skating Couple was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Faces – Ivory; Girl’s Hat, Mitts and Skirt – Light Cherry Cobbler; Girl’s Sweater – Light Crumb Cake; Man’s Hat, Scarf and Pants – Dark Mossy Meadow; Man’s Sweater and Skates – Light Smoky Slate.
  • Sentiment Banner: Mossy Meadow cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, love never melts, from the retired Spirited Snowmen stamp set (circa 2018) was also stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with Silver Embossing Powder and then die-cut with the Banner die from the retired Bunch of Banners Framelits Dies set.
    • Ribbon Folds and Edging of the Banner were added with the Dark Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends Marker.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Banner was popped up with Dimensionals and a small White Heart, punched out using the retired Owl Builder Punch was added to the Banner. Three small Silver Adhesive-Backed Metallic Gems were added completing the card.

What fun to go skating on a frozen pond all dressed in your lovely outfits…

  1. This is beautifully stunning! Could be used as a couple’s winter time anniversary card too with the wording that is so perfect to go with ice skating setting! The layout design is terrific! The embossing folder choice is terrific! Thanks for creating and sharing for FarmQuest #64 and Heart’s Quest #66.
