Mid Century Modern – Birthday

Hi again!  I needed a guy card.  Do you have trouble creating cards for guys?  I find that simple shapes and earthy colors are ideal to work with.

I selected to create a Retro style birthday card for Seize The Birthday (#290) in a loose Frank Lloyd Wright interpretation of his famous window designs.

Incorporating the center line items from the Tic Tac Toe (#255) Board.

Here is the result:

SIMPLY SAID – STB290 – TTTC255

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Pecan Pie cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4¼” x 5½”) Basic Beige cardstock.
  • Shapes – Circles and Rectangles: Pecan Pie, Crushed Curry, Pretty Peacock and Lost Lagoon cardstock scraps.
    • Three (1½”) and one (2”) Circles were die-cut with Circle dies from various die sets in my collection.
    • Five (½”) Rectangles (off-cuts) were trimmed to varying lengths (2¾” to 4¼”)
    • One (⅛” x 3¾”) Strip was also used.
    • The Circles, Rectangles and Strip were arranged with one circle and one semi-circle popped up with Dimensionals.
  • Sentiment: Lost Lagoon cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the Simply Said stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • The sentiment was cut apart and closely trimmed with Paper Snips and affixed in place.

And we are done.  An ideal card to use up some of those scraps we all have on hand. Such a fun card to make.
