Sketched Butterflies – Thanks

Welcome back!  It’s Wednesday!!  Starting the Holiday Christmas Classes today, so it will be a busy one.  Getting this card out nice and early.

The Global Design Project (#460) is asking for a CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) of a card created by Susan Wong.  Such a pretty card.

My take-aways are the overall design elements and the watercolor drip technique.   I changed out the colors so I could play with the Color Hues (#93) Orange and Yellow suggestion.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Peach Pie cardstock.
• Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.
  • Using a large Clear Stamping Block, Peach Pie and Daffodil Delight inks were applied and loosely watered with the Wide-Tipped Water Painter Brush and added to the panel and allowed to drip.
  • Using my Craft Toothbrush, color was picked up and splattered onto the panel.
  • Once dry, the small Butterflies image from the Sketched Butterflies stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the Butterflies were colored with the Dark Peach Pie Stampin’ Blends Marker in lieu of the Twine.
• Banner Strip: (3” x ½”) Crushed Curry Dotted patterned piece of paper from the retired Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper pack trimmed on the diagonal.
• Focal Image – Butterfly: Fluid 100 Watercolor paper scrap.
  • The medium Butterfly image, also from the Sketched Butterflies stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with the Light Daffodil Delight, Peach Pie and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends Markers then die-cut with the coordinating die from the Sketched Butterflies Dies set.
• The sentiment, Thanks, from the Attention Shoppers stamp set was also stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a scrap of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and then trimmed and flagged with Paper Snips. (1½” x ½”).

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble Susan’s design.  The Butterfly and the Sentiment were popped up with Dimensionals and three Peach Pie 2024/2026 in-Color Shimmer Gems were added for a wee bit of bling.
