Love & Affection – Sending a Smile

Welcome back!  So happy you came for a visit.

A few deadlines: Double Trouble (#172) partnering with If You Give a Crafter a Cookie (#195) for a “Be Happy” theme and Color Dare (#612) Tic Tac Toe Board choices and I picked my favorites from the center vertical line.  All three, bright and happy.

In addition, I rounded out my design choices with the following challenges: Retro Rubber (#237) Tic Tac Toe Board, picking Rectangles, Dry Embossing and my free choice – Water Coloring, a favorite technique to share with Stampin’ Up! Only (#358) and picking the Try a Sketch on Tuesday (#652) for the layout.

Here is the result:

LOVE & AFFECTION – PLAYING IN THE RAIN – DT172 – CC195 – CD612 – RRCB237 – SUOC358 – TSOT652

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Melon Mambo cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Basic White cardstock dry-embossed with the Floral Fun Patterns Embossing Folder, an On-Line Exclusive product.
  • Diagonal Strips – Top & Bottom: (4½” x ¼”) Melon Mambo Dotted patterned piece of paper from the 2024/2025 Brights Collection Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Diagonal Strip – Center: (5¼” x ⅜”) Lemon Lime Twist Water colored patterned piece of paper from the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Rectangle Mat: (2⅜” x 3⅝”) Pretty Peacock cardstock.
  • Focal Panel: (2¼” x 3½”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Smiling Turtle image from the Playing in the Rain stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • Using the Fine-Tipped Water Painter Brush, the Turtle was colored with Lemon Lime Twist, Pretty Peacock and Melon Mambo inks picked up from the Ink Pad Lids.
    • Melon Mambo ink was added above the Turtle using the Wide-Tipped Water Painter Brush.
    • Once dry, the sentiment, Sending a smile your way, from the retired Love & Affection stamp set (circa 2016) was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  A few Lovely Lipstick retired Enamel Dots (still in my stash) were added to the corners for a bit of fun.

The shy, sweet little fellow with his bright happy flower always makes me smile.

Thanks for spending a bit more of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!

  5. Jolanda, such a cute turtle card for BOTH TSOT and DTPC! Love how you embossed the background! Very clever to cut patterned paper strips that pick up on the colors of your image, too!! Thank you for sharing your creative talents once again with both of our challenges!!! -Donna
