Sending Sunshine – Enjoy

Welcome to Sunday and the newest Paper Players (#701) challenge.  This week, Stef has a delightful Summer Beach Mood Board for us.

My take-away?  The top center Beach Ball photograph suggested a clean and simple sketch layout and an opportunity to draw and color my own image.

Color Choice: Just Us Girls (#738) and sharing with Time Out (#269) and I Spy With My Little Eye (#17) for their summer themes.

Here is the result:

HAND DRAWN ARTWORK – SENDING SUNSHINE – WATERFRONT – PP701 – JUGS738 – TOC269 – EIS017

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Boho Blue cardstock.
  • Focal Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Basic White cardstock.
    • Using my Fine-Tipped Liquid Gel Pen, I drew the Beach Ball and added Lines for the Sand, Water and Sky areas.
    • The sentiment, Inhale. Exhale. ENJOY., from the retired Sending Sunshine stamp set was chosen because it evoked a sense of summer relaxation and was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • The Beach Ball was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Ball Panels – Light Melon Mambo and Dark Pumkin Pie; and Ball Cap – Light Crumb Cake and the Color Lifter.
    • Masks were created for the Beach Ball, Sand, Water and Sky areas from a piece of Copy Paper.
    • Using Blending Brushes, Crumb Cake ink was added to the Sand area, Boho Blue ink to the Water area and finished off with Balmy Blue ink for the Sky area.
    • Using the Speckled image from the retired Waterfront stamp set, Sand detail was added with Crumb Cake ink.
    • A small shadow was added under the Beach Ball with the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Marker.

A day at the Beach and a break from the all-work responsibilities.  How wonderful!

  3. Well done on bringing the mood board scene to life, Jolanda! The brightly colored beach ball is certainly a stand out against the subtler tones in the rest of the card. Very pretty!
