Poised Peony – Best Birthday Wishes

Hello again! Today is the day that Facebook’s Stampin’ Through the Catalog invites us to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) a Designer’s Card.  The original card was created by Narelle Farrugia, who is one of Stampin’ Up!’s Artisan Designers.  Her card is lovely.

My take-aways from Narelle’s card are: Focal image, Distressed Layers, a Label and a few Flags and some Gems.

I elected to also play with Stampin’ Up!’s Creative Challenge to Step It Down.  This means take a favored card but simplify it.

Additional inspiration: Tic Tac Toe (#252) Line: Layers, Free and Flowers but Die Cuts, Free and Any Sentiment works too; The Flower Challenge (#93) Birthday theme; and Facebook Colour INKspiration (#169) for the choice of colors.

Here is the result:

POISED PEONY – STTC CHALLENGE – CCSU! July – TTTC252 – TFC93 – CI169

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Night of Navy cardstock.
  • Accent Mat: (5¼” x 4”) Basic Beige cardstock die-cut with the (5” x 3¾”) Rectangle die from the Deckled Rectangles Dies set, an On-Line Exclusive product.
  • Background Panel: (5” x 3½”) Misty Moonlight Stylized Floral patterned piece of paper from the 2024/2025 Neutrals Collection Designer Series Paper pack die-cut with the (4¾” x 3¼”) Rectangle die also from the Deckled Rectangles Dies set.
  • Sentiment Label: (3½” x 2”) Basic Beige cardstock.
    • The sentiment, Best Birthday Wishes, from the Poised Peony stamp set was stamped with Night of Navy ink and then die-cut with the (3⅜” x 1⅞”) Elongated Octagon die from the Countryside Corners Dies set.
  • Flags: (4” x ½”) Blueberry Bushel cardstock scrap hand flagged and cut in half with Paper Snips.
  • Focal Image – Peony: (3½” x 2½’) Basic Beige cardstock.
    • The large Peony Flower from the Poised Peony stamp set was stamped with Night of Navy ink and colored with both the light and dark Blueberry Bushel (Bloom) and Misty Moonlight (Leaves) Stampin’ Blends Markers.
    • The Bloom was then fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the basic layout of Narelle’s card which I flipped to the horizontal position.  The Peony was popped up with Dimensionals and a few Misty Moonlight Tinsel Gems were added for a bit of bling.

A Floral study in Blue for a denim loving birthday girl.

  1. Very pretty monochromatic card, Jolanda! I like how you took some elements from Narelle’s card and created your own design. Love that dsp too. Thanks for sharing with us at The Flower Challenge!
