Sailing Home – There is Good in the World

Design Time: This round Hand Stamped Sentiments (#441) has a great Summer Mood Board to jump start your creativity and Cardz 4 Guyz (#350) has an Anything Goes category.  Gravitating towards the Sunset image, I created a card suitable for a fellow.

Additional inspiration: Sketch – Just Add Ink (#707); Technique – TGIF (#478); and Subject – Time Out (#266).

Here is the result:

SAILING HOME – EARTHEN TEXTURES – HSSIC441 – C4G350 – JAI707 – TGIFC478 – TOC266

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4⅛” x 5⅜”) Basic Black cardstock.
    • The sentiment, You are proof there is good in the world, from the retired Earthen Textures stamp set was stamped with Craft White Pigment ink.
  • Semi-Circle Shape: Basic White cardstock and Colored cardstock scraps from my Bin.
    • Sunset colored strips were die-cut with the edge of one of the Rectangle dies from the Deckled Rectangles Dies set.  This in an On-Line Exclusive product.
    • The Strips were adhered to the Basic White cardstock base top and bottom around the Basic Black strip.
    • The completed panel was then die-cut with the (3½”) Circle die from the coordinating Deckled Circles Dies set, also and On-Line Exclusive product.
    • The Circle was then trimmed by (1”) for the straight edge.
  • Decoration – Lighthouse: Basic Black cardstock scrap.
    • The Lighthouse image from the retired Sailing Home stamp set was also stamped with Craft White Pigment ink and fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch which I flipped to better suit my design.  The Lighthouse was popped up with Dimensionals.

I haven’t used the Chalkboard technique in a long time and I like how the sunset colors pop against the black for a cool appreciation card for any deserving fellow.
