Sketched Butterflies – Thinking of You

Welcome to Sunday and the newest Paper Players (#695) challenge.  This week, Ann has given us a really neat Sketch to work with.  I took it a step further and created a Double Point Fun Fold card.

Additional inspiration: Colors and Flight for Inspired By (#294); Stampin’ Up! Only (#354) for Heat Embossing; and of course, Creative Creases (#85), as I went out of my comfort zone and made a Fun Fold card.

Here is the result:

SKETCHED BUTTERFLIES BUNDLE – PP695 – IB294 – SUOC354 – CCC85

Steps:

  • Card Base: (4¼” x 5½”) Wild Wheat cardstock.
  • Accent Mat: (4⅛” x 5⅜”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) White & Gold Plaid patterned piece of paper from the retired Most Adorned Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Points: (4” x 2½”) Distressed Gold Specialty Paper (retired).
    • The paper was scored and folded at (½”) and the “Points” were centered at (2”) and cut on the diagonal and the excess was adhered behind the Background Panel.
  • Focal Accent Mat: (3” x 4¼”) Basic White cardstock die-cut with the (2⅝” x 4”) Rectangle die from the retired Radiating Stitches Dies set.  Note: Two more were also die-cut.  One as a backing and the other for the inside.
  • Focal Panel: (2¼” x 3¾”) Wild Wheat cardstock die-cut with the (2” x 3⅜”) Rectangle die, also from the Radiating Stiches Dies set.
  • Decoration – Butterflies: Basic White cardstock scraps.
    • The Butterflies, along with the sentiment, Thinking of You, from the Sketched Butterflies stamp set were stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with Gold Embossing Powder.
    • The Butterflies were die-cut with the coordinating dies from the Sketched Butterflies Dies set and the sentiment was die-cut with the (1½”) Circle die from the Radiating Stitches Dies set.
  • Inset Decoration: Distressed Gold Specialty Paper scrap die-cut with the Triple Butterfly die, also from the Sketched Butterflies Dies set.
  • Construction:
    • The Wild Wheat Panel was adhered to the Basic White Panel and (4”) of retired Fine Art Ribbon was wrapped around and affixed with Scotch Tape.
    • The Panel was then adhered to the top “Point”.
    • Another Basic White Panel was then adhered to the back side, trapping the “Point” and hiding the Ribbon.
    • The third Basic White Panel was then adhered to the Background Panel directly under the Focal Panel.
    • The die-cut Butterflies were adhered for some interior bling.
    • The Butterflies were adhered to the Focal Panel and the Sentiment was popped up with Dimensionals.
