Simply Said – Birthday Celebrations

Welcome back!  A Stampin’ Up! Challenge…the Facebook Group Stampin’ Through The Catalog is featuring the new stamp set Simply Said today.

I chose the TGIF (#476) Colors, the Sketch Saturday (#752) Layout and the Just Us Girls (#731) Word – Celebrate by choosing the Let’s Celebrate stamp to work with among others from the stamp set.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Gray cardstock.
• Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Basic Gray and White patterned Envelope from the Calming Creek Cards and Envelopes Pack cut apart and to size.
  • Creating my own patterned paper, the sentiment stamps, Let’s Celebrate and Happy Birthday were stamped on the diagonal following the pattern in the paper with Pumpkin Pie, Azure Afternoon and Basic Gray inks.
• Shape Accent Mat – Hexagon: (2¼” x 3½”) Pumpkin Pie cardstock die-cut with the Scalloped Frame Hexagon die from the Wildflower Designs Dies set.  The inset piece measures (2⅛” x 3⅜”).
• Focal Shape – Hexagon: (2″ x 3¼”) Basic White cardstock die-cut with the (1⅞” x 3”) Stitched Hexagon die from the same die set.
  • The sentiment, birthday wishes, was stamped twice on the diagonal with Azure Afternoon ink.
• Criss-Cross Accent: (⅛”) retired Grapefruit Grove Grosgrain Ribbon (still in my stash) colored with the Dark Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends Marker and tied around the Background Panel.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Hexagon Focal image was popped up Dimensionals and a few retired Basic Gray Classic Matte Dots were added.

A super Birthday Celebration card suitable for a teen with a guy-type vibe.
