Loyal Leaves

Alas, my time as a Surprise Party Guest with Seize the Birthday has come to an end.  It has been a pleasure to create with the team.

My last Party Topping (#285) this round is to “Use Metallics”.  I selected the new Textured Metallic Specialty Paper and Gold Embossing Powder for my metallic elements.

I selected the CAS Colours & Sketches (#537) Layout and playing along with Double Trouble (#167) for their 6th Anniversary.  I chose to design for the Male Category and to share this card with I Spy with My Little Eye (#15) Something for Men.

Here is the result:

LOYAL LEAVES – STB285 – CC&S537 – DT167 – EIS015

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Kraft Paper (retired).
    • I wanted to try a threaded weave so with the Hobby Blade Crafting Tip and the Take Your Pick Tool, I cut (2⅛”) vertical slits approximately (½”) and (⅛”) apart cascading from (3½”), (3”) and (2½”).
    • Threading Strips: Bright Copper (4” x ⅞”) and (3” x ⅜”) and Gold (3½” x ⅝”) Textured Metallic Specialty Paper woven through the cut slits.
    • The sentiment, You are strong, you are loyal, you are true, from the retired Loyal Leaves stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with Gold Embossing Powder.
  • Accent Mat (1): (2⅛” x 2⅞”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • Accent Mat (2): (2” x 2¾”) Gold Textured Metallic Specialty Paper.
  • Focal Panel: (1⅞” x 2⅝”) Kraft Paper.
    • Two Gingko Leaf images also from the Loyal Leaves stamp set were stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with Gold Embossing Powder.

The card was then assembled to resemble the sketch and the focal panel was popped up with Dimensionals.

A nice masculine interpretation of a clean and simple sketch.  This would be a card that I would give to my father, husband, son or any other great guys in my circle for their birthday.

Looking forward to seeing what you will create for Seize the Birthday this round.  Remember, Anything Goes if you choose not to add the Topping.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.   Cheers,  Jolanda!
