Leaf Collection – On My Mind

Welcome back! Happy to be creating…

Every week, the Facebook Stampin’ Through the Catalog Crew selects a couple of stamp sets to play with and today it is Leaf Collection.

My creative choices were inspired by: TGIF (#473) to create a background; the Color Dare (#600) center tic tac toe line for the palette; and the Freshly Made (#637) sketch to bring it all together.

A quick note on color.  As Stampin’ Up! has welcomed former Close To My Heart Makers into the family, a comparison color match listing was provided to us.  Therefore, I selected Lost Lagoon for Mist, Soft Sea Foam for Seabrook and Basic Gray for Rosemary.

Here is the result:

LEAF COLLECTION – WILDFLOWER DESIGNS – STTC – TGIFC437 – CD600 – FMS637

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Lost Lagoon cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Shimmery White cardstock (retired but still in my stash).
    • Using the Stampin’ Blends Markers in Lost Lagoon and Soft Sea Foam, I added the color directly to the Stampin’ Glass Mat.
    • The colors were sprayed with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and mopped up by patting, dragging or otherwise adding color to the cardstock.
    • Once dry, I used a Blending Brush and added more Soft Sea Foam ink where needed,
    • The Leaf Collection Background stamp was inked with Lost Lagoon ink and stamped off once.
    • The resultant (2nd generation) inked stamp was laid ink side up and sprayed with water.
    • The cardstock was then pressed onto the stamp, lifted and left to dry.
    • Once dry, I used my crafting Toothbrush to flick both water and Lost Lagoon ink onto the card resulting in a very fine spray.
    • Again, once dry, I added the sentiment, You’ve been on my mind, from the Wildflower Designs stamp set with Basic Gray ink.
  • Side Strip: (1¼” x 5¼”) Soft Sea Foam cardstock dry-embossed with the Dashing Designs 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Shapes – Rectangles – Basic Gray cardstock.
    • Only the central Leaf Sprig image on the Leaf Collection Backgroundstamp was inked with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • The Leaf Sprigs were die-cut with the (1¾” x 1”) Stitched Rectangle die from the Nested Essentials Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch and showcase the dreamy background I created in the chosen colors for a pretty thinking of you card.
