Simply Zinnia Fun Fold Birthday Card

Welcome back!  Playing with a few challenges that have pushed me outside of my comfort zone.  While I admire 3D Fun Fold type cards, they are not my usual go to.

Inkspirational (#313) for the Word: Fold and Creative Creases (#79) for the Stampin’ Up! Only (#349) Birthday theme using the color palette suggested by TGIF (#467).

Perusing Pinterest, I selected a Square Column fun fold tutorial presented by Rachel Tessman for this card.

Here is the result:

SIMPLY ZINNIA DIES – SENTIMENTAL PARK – IC313 – CCC79 – SUOC349 – TGIFC467

Steps:

  • Card Base: (5½” x 10⅛” scored at 4¼”, 5¾”, 7¼” and 8¾”) Basic White Thick cardstock.
  • Decorated Panels: Basic White Thick cardstock.
    • (3) pieces cut at (1⅜” x 5⅜”) and (1) piece cut at (1⅛” x 5⅜”).
    • All Panels were dry-embossed with the Diamond patterned Fun Patterns Embossing Folder, an On-Line Exclusive product.
    • The Panels were adhered the three sides of the Box Fold and the Open Card Edge.
  • Focal Image – Flowering Pot: Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist and Blueberry Bushel colored sheets from the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper pack.
    • Using dies from the On-Line Exclusive Simply Zinnia Dies set, the Flower pieces were die-cut and assembled.
    • The Leaf Stems were also die-cut from the same die set.
    • A portion of the (3¾” x 1¾”) Elongated Hexagon die from the Nested Essentials Dies set was used to create the Flower Pot.  The Flower Pot was then dry-embossed with the Cross Hatch patterned Basics 3D Embossing Folder, also an On-Line Exclusive product.
    • The Flowers and Pot were then arranged and adhered with both glue and Dimensionals on the front of the Box Fold.
  • Sentiment(s): Basic White Thick cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, let’s celebrate, from the Sentimental Park stamp set was stamped with Berry Burst ink and then die-cut with the (2¼” x ½’) Stitched Banner die from the Stylish Shaped Dies set.
    • The word: YOU, also from the same stamp set was stamped with Berry Burst ink on the inside panel of the card.

Lastly, adhesive was added to the back of the Box Fold and the Fun Fold was completed.

What a lovely and bright birthday card.  Kind of cool that the card will stand up nicely for display.

  4. Super cute card, Jolanda! I am intimidated by “fun” folds and don’t do them unless I absolutely have to 😉 You did a great job! Thanks for playing along with us at SUO Challenges!
