Thoughtful Expressions – You’re in My Thoughts

Let’s play!!  It is Tuesday and another of my design team challenges has begun.  This week Facebook Case-ing Tuesday (#451) is featuring a card found on page 29 of the Jan – Apr Mini Catalog.

Stampin’ Up!’s March #SimpleStamping challenge (Just Stamps, Ink and Paper) includes Designer Series Paper and the greeting: Thinking of You.  I snuck in a Circle Punch as that is a tool most crafters have on hand.  Coincidently, Paper Craft Crew (#559) is also looking for a simple stamped card. All that was left was to choose the colors and I selected the sweet spring tones suggested by TGIF (#462): Highland Heather, Balmy Blue and Lemon Lolly. Over at Tic Tac Toe (#242), the center line “Shape” influenced my choice to add a fussy-cut bird.

Here is the result:

THOUGHTFUL EXPRESSIONS – HILLS OF TUSCANY – CT450 – SUSS March 2024 – PCC559 – TGIFC462 – TTTC242

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Lemon Lolly cardstock.
  • Side Panel: (2½” x 5”) Mini Floral patterned piece of paper from the Zoo Crew Designer Series Paper pack colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers in the challenge colors: Light Lemon Lolly and Highland Heather along with Dark Balmy Blue.
  • Circle: (2”) Balmy Blue cardstock scrap punched with a (2”) Circle Punch.
  • Sentiment: (2¼” x ½”) Highland Heather cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, You’re in my thoughts, from the Hills of Tuscany stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • The sentiment was trimmed out using Paper Snips.
  • Focal Image – Hummingbird: (3” x 3”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Hummingbird image from the Thoughtful Expressions stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and was also colored with the same Stampin’ Blends Markers.
    • The Hummingbird image was then fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Hummingbird was popped up with Dimensionals.

Have the Hummingbirds come back to you yet?  I always look forward to their return in the Spring.

Sometimes it is really hard to stick to simple stamping.  I like how this turned out and it is an easy card for a beginner to make…

Hope you can find some time to join us at Case-ing Tuesday this week.  I would love to see what you will create for this sketch.
