Welcome to Sunday and the newest Paper Players (#678) challenge. Anne Marie has given us a fun sketch to play with this week.

I decided to have a play with stencils for Just Us Girls (#715) and the Color Dare (#588) Fancy Five picking the warm tones. I am also sharing this card with Krafty Chicks (#704) for their All Occasions theme. I am using two new stamp sets that were gifted to me from Simply Stamps.

Here is the result:

Steps:
- Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Cherry Cobbler cardstock.
- Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
- Stencil Blocks: (4¼” x 5½”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
- Using two of the stencils from the Foursquare Decorative Masks set and Blending Brushes, the Houndstooth pattern was created with Copper Clay ink (for Paprika) and the Stylized Floral pattern was created with Cherry Cobbler ink (for Scarlet).
- The respective blocks were trimmed to (3⅝” x 2¼”) Houndstooth and (1⅝” x 3¾”) Floral.
- The edges were colored with the respective Stampin’ Write Markers.
- Sentiment Strip: (3¼” x ¾”) Very Vanilla scrap.
- The sentiment, A Hug in a Cup, from the Coffee or Tea? stamp set was stamped with Copper Clay ink and the banner was also edged.
- Focal Shape – Circle: (2¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock scrap.
- Using a Blending Brush, Crushed Curry ink (for Sundance) was added to the paper.
- The Floral Mug image from the Have a Cup on Us stamp set was stamped with Copper Clay ink.
- The Dots and Floral Centers were colored with the Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker as was the Floral Center Rings with the Cherry Cobbler Marker.
- The Cup was colored with both the Light and Dark Copper Clay Stampin’ Blends Markers.
- The image was then punched out with a (2¼”) Circle Punch and edged with the Crushed Curry Marker.
All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch layout for a minimal layer clean and simple card with the Floral Mug Circle popped up with Dimensionals.
I like how the colors can go masculine yet are fun for a girl. The sentiment can take the card from a fun love sentiment to a get-well card in a moment if need be. Besides, a cup of coffee or tea in the morning is my wake-up hug!
Thanks for spending some of your time with me today and I hope you will consider joining us with this week’s challenge. Cheers, Jolanda!
