Hills of Tuscany – Sepia Study

Hi!  Back again for the Facebook Case-ing Tuesday (#446) sketch where we select a card sample from one of the Stampin’ Up! catalogs. Today’s sketch is found on page 30 of the January – April Mini Catalog.

I kept the layout pretty much the same but changed out the stamp set, showcasing the Hills of Tuscany stamp set and the Everyday Details Dies set, two new additions to my collection to play along with As You See It (#316).  For the colors, I opted for the Tic Tac Toe Board left column suggested by Color Dare (#585) for a study in Sepia tones.

Here is the result:

HILLS OF TUSCANY – EVERYDAY DETAILS DIES – CT446 – AYSI316 – CD585

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4⅛” x 5⅜”) Very Vanilla cardstock dry-embossed with the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Accent Circles: Copper Clay Painted Brush patterned piece of paper from the Fresh As A Daisy Designer Series Paper pack and Pale Papaya Script patterned piece of paper from the retired Artfully Composed Designer Series Paper pack.
    • Using the (2⅜”) and (1⅞”) Circle dies from the Everyday Details Dies set, the two accent circles were die-cut from each piece of patterned paper.
  • Sentiment Circle: Copper Clay cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Hello, from the Hills of Tuscany stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • The sentiment was die-cut with the (1⅜”) Circle die, from the same set of dies.
  • Focal Image – Scene: (4¼” x 4¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
    • The Scene was created with a variety of Builder stamp images from the Hills of Tuscany stamp set.
    • Ground and Trees – Copper Clay (for Mocha) in 1st, 2nd and 3rd Generation stamping.
    • Sky Clouds – Petal Pink (for Peach).
    • Villa – Peach Parfait (retired) (for Papaya).
    • Roof, Sun and Flowers – Calypso Coral (for a deeper Papaya tone) both 1st and 2nd Generation stamping.
    • The Scene was die-cut with the (3¼”) Circle die from the same die set.

The pieces were arranged to resemble the sketch with the Focal Scene Circle popped up with Dimensionals.

I think I am going to have fun with this stamp set.  Creating a variety of idyllic scenes with all the builder pieces.  Give it a try!

  1. So beautiful, Jolanda – love this in sepia tones – so cool! Lovely sketch, too – that’s a lot of circles to tame, lol, and you totally pulled it off! Thanks so much for playing at As You See It!

  2. What a beautiful Tuscan scene you created. I love the papers you used as well (I love a script). We were thinking of going to Italy this year, but opted to redo the bathroom instead! LOL Thanks so much for sharing at Color Dare.

  3. Oh my! What a super way to use these lovely dies. I have them and have yet to fully explore them. The way you’ve used them to frame the scene then layer up toning colours is very pretty. Thanks fo joining in with us again at As You See It.

  4. Jolanda this is such a fabulous card! A great CASE of that sketch and I think one of the nicest cards I’ve seen with this set – the sepia colouring gives the card a wonderful warmth. Great use of those circle dies too – looking for ward to seeing what else you make with your new purchases! Thanks for sharing your new stash with us over at As You See It Challenge this week!

  5. Jolanda, I’ve always been a bit partial to monotone designs, and this one is just warm and lovely. It’s a perfect palette for this set. Thanks for filling in our blank at As You See It Challenges!
