Welcome back to a brand-new week! January is fast giving way to February and that means Valentine’s Day is once again on the horizon.
I created a somewhat masculine card for several concurrent challenges: Heart’s Quest (#46) to use a puzzle piece; Festive Friday (#151) to include a love sentiment; Tic Tac Toe (#239) which includes several of the same elements and Ellibelle’s I Spy (#11) to include hearts.
Here is what I came up with:
Steps:
- Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
- The sentiment, love you lots, from the Tropical Leaf stamp set (On-Line Exclusive product) was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder along the bottom of the card front.
- Puzzle Board Block: (4”x 4”) Basic White and Real Red cardstock and Real Red Plaid patterned piece of paper from the Sale-a-bration Most Adorned Specialty Designer Series Paper pack and the Melon Mambo and White patterned piece of paper from the retired Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.
- The Real Red cardstock and the Designer Series Paper were die-cut with the Square Puzzle die from the retired Puzzle Pieces Thinlits Dies set.
- The resultant Real Red Frame was adhered to the Basic White Square and the Designer Series Paper Puzzle Pieces were fitted in to complete the block.
- Puzzle Heart: (2” x 2”) Basic White cardstock and the Red and White Heart patterned piece of paper from the Most Adorned Specialty Designer Series Paper pack along with the Black Heart patterned piece of paper from the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.
- The two Designer Series Paper pieces were die-cut with the Heart Puzzle die from the same die set.
- The Heart Puzzle Pieces were adhered to the Basic White cardstock.
- Using Paper Snips, the Heart was trimmed out to leave a small white border.
The Puzzle Pieces were adhered to the card base with the Heart piece popped up with Dimensionals.
I like that this Valentine is not too frilly, and I think my husband would approve.
