Chinese New Year – Good Luck

I am back!  Challenges just have a way of sneaking up on you and before you know it a deadline is imminent.  So, indulge me in another card today.

Festive Friday (#150) is celebrating Chinese New Year – The Year of the Wood Dragon.

The year of the Wood Dragon 2024 is special.  It is a year of innovation, vision and growth.  It is a year to pursue your dreams, express your ideas and expand your horizons.  It is also a year to be generous, compassionate and loyal to your friends.

Sounds like it will be a good year.  Wishing you Good Luck and much prosperity.

I selected the Atlantic Hearts (#560) Sketch for this card, and I am sharing the card with Time Out (#254) for their “New” theme.

Here is the result:

POWER OF HOPE – FF0150 – AHSC560 – TOC254

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4⅛” x 5⅜”) Distressed Gold Specialty Paper.
  • Diamond Shapes – Images: Real Red cardstock.
    • The Pagoda and the Lantern images along with the Gold Luck sentiment from the retired Power of Hope stamp set were stamped with Versamark ink and heat set with Gold Embossing Powder.
    • The images were die-cut with the Stitched Square dies from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.  Pagoda (2⅜” x 2⅜’) and Lantern (1½” x 1½”).

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Pagoda image was popped up with Dimensionals and two smaller Black Enamel Dots from the Classic Mat Dots collection were added to the tops of the Lanterns.

Thanks for spending some more of your time with me today.   Cheers,  Jolanda!

  1. Such a wonderfully, rich take on the chalenge. The gold embossing on the red really works perfectly for our challenge. Love the layout, too. So glad you shared this with us at Festive Friday this week
