Welcome back! Is it cold in your neck of the world? Lots of snow and it’s time for those mittens.
As You See It (#314) is back for 2024 with a cool sketch.
My choices were influenced by Inspired By (#271) for the theme, texture and general coloring which tied in well with the Color Dare (#583) Fancy Five Board. I chose to make a birthday card using the techniques / tools suggested by Seize The Birthday (#275).
Here is the result:
Steps:
- Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Smoky Slate cardstock.
- Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Balmy Blue cardstock dry-embossed with the retired Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
- Center Panel: (1⅞” x 3⅛”) Bubble Bath cardstock dry-embossed with the retired Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.
- Shapes – Mittens: Basic White cardstock.
- I downloaded a free digital image of Mittens from Pinterest and printed them out on the cardstock.
- The Mittens were colored with Light Stampin’ Blends Markers: Colors selected: Balmy Blue (for Periwinkle); Bubble Bath (for Mulberry); Smoky Slate (for Mink) and Pecan Pie as a neutral.
- The Mittens were fussy cut with Paper Snips.
- Sentiment Label: (2¾” x ⅞”) Pecan Pie cardstock scrap.
- The sentiment, Life is better with friends like you, from the By My Side stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
- Inside (not shown): (3¾” x 5”) Basic White cardstock.
- The sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the Phrases for All stamp set was stamped with Pecan Pie ink.
All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch and the Mittens were arranged in the Arc pattern as preferred by the AYSI team and popped up with Dimensionals.
A sweet card to celebrate a friends winter birthday.

This card is so perfectly coordinated, Jolanda – love it! Those mittens were a fabulous digital find – I have to remember that! Now, if only I could print on cardstock with more consistent results, lol. Thanks so much for playing at As You See It!
