Notes of Nature – Hello

Welcome back!  I have the honor of being selected as a Guest Designer for Double Trouble for the month of January.  What fun to start the new year off as a Crazy Cousin!

Double Trouble (#156) asks for a background that is either Loud, Bold & Bright or Calm, Soft & Pastel to match our personality.  I went with Calm today as it better suited my mood.  When the holidays wind down and your guests have gone home, it is time for a little quiet reflection.  Double Trouble is partnering with Try a Sketch on Tuesday (#638) for the layout, and it is a super pretty sketch.

Here is the result:

NOTES OF NATURE – FLIGHT & AIRY DSP – DT156 – TSOT638

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Bubble Bath cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Small Floral patterned piece of paper from the new Flight & Airy Designer Series Paper pack available for free with a qualifying purchase from the Sale-a-bration Brochure.
  • Tilted Square: (2” x 2”) Bubble Bath cardstock dry-embossed with the retired Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Small Square: (1⅝” x 1⅝”) Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.
    • A light Boho Blue ink watercolor wash was applied to the paper with the Wide-Tipped Water Painter Brush.
    • The drying process was speeded up by using the Heat Tool.
    • Once dry, a Leafed Branch was painted with the Fine-Tipped Water Painter Brush using Garden Green ink.
    • The Bird image was fussy-cut with Paper Snips from another of the patterned papers from the Flight & Airy Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Sentiment Ribbon: (3½” x ⅜”) Bubble Bath cardstock scrap also dry-embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder and flagged with Paper Snips.
  • Sentiment Label: (2⅝” x ⅝”) Vellum cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Just a little note to say hello, from the new Notes of Nature stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch with both the Tilted Square and Sentiment Ribbon popped up with Dimensionals

  1. Yolanda, what a great job on the watercoloring of your card. I think in all the years I’ve been creating cards, I’m not sure but I think I have only used watercoloring a couple times… think it’s about time I take your inspiration on watercoloring. Love the texture and beautiful patterned paper and perfect for your birdie. Thanks for being our Crazy Cousin for the month of January and on such short notice. Looking foward to your next creation.
