News Flash – Let’s Celebrate

Good afternoon!  Just because the Holidays are around the corner, it doesn’t mean that everything else comes to a halt.  Birthdays still come along…

Over at Make My Monday (#212), the theme is a Pun/Fun sentiment, and I chose one from an older stamp set, Approaching Perfection.  I selected the colors suggested by Creative Colour (#113) and the layout from Sketch Saturday (#737).  I am sharing this card with Ellibelle’s Crafty Corner (November) for the anything goes theme.

Here is the result:

APPROACHING PERFECTION – BALLOON ADVENTURE – MMM212 – CCC113 – SS737 – ECC November 2023

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Night of Navy cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Basic White cardstock.
    • I created an Embossed Quilted Panel design.
    • The three different Balloon images from the retired Balloon Adventures stamp set were stamped on Basic White cardstock scraps using Smoky Slate, Poppy Parade and Night of Navy inks and punched out with the coordinating retired Balloon Bouquet Punch.
    • The Curly Balloon Tail image from the same stamp set was randomly stamped onto the panel using the three ink colors.
    • The Balloons were arranged and adhered to the panel.
    • The panel was then dry-embossed with the Cross-Hatch patterned On-Line Exclusive Basics 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Banner: (2” x 4½”) Vellum cut on the diagonal.
    • The Wavy Striped image from the retired Incredible Like You stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder to stand in for the two background strips.
    • The sentiment, Let’s Celebrate, also from the Balloon Perfection stamp set was added to the top of the Banner with Night of Navy ink.
  • Sentiment Block: (2¼” x 2¼”) Poppy Parade cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, News Flash, from the retired Approaching Perfection stamp set was also stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • The sentiment was then die-cut with the Angled Square die from the Christmas Classics Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The sentiment Block was popped up with Dimensionals.

A red, white and blue combination is always fun for a bright birthday card.  I know my friend will get a laugh when she sees this card.
