Thinking of You – Happy Scenes

Welcome back!  I have the honor of being selected as a Guest Designer for Double Trouble for the month of September.  What fun to be a Crazy Cousin!

Challenge (#147) includes Fall Colors, Pumpkins and a chance to partner with Inspiration Station (#53) for their photograph of the Fall Market Gourd Display which is so evocative of the Season.

A few other challenges were incorporated to complete my card: Time Out (#246) Tree Quote; Just Add Ink (#668) Materials and Technique; and Stampin’ Up! Only (#334) for the sketch.

Here is the result:

HAPPY SCENES – DT147 – ISC53 – TOC246 – JAI668 – SUOC334

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Pool Party cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (3¾” x 5”) Early Espresso cardstock die-cut with the largest Rectangle die from the Deckled Rectangles Dies set and then dry-embossed with the new Wave patterned Cheery Embossing Folder.
  • Focal Panel: (3” x 4”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
    • The Fall Tree image from the retired Happy Scenes stamp set was selected for the Pumpkins and the Tree.  The image was stamped with Early Espresso ink.
    • The Scene was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors selected: Pumpkins – Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie; Grass – Light Granny Apple Green and Old Olive; and Leaves – Light Sweet Sorbet, Dark Daffodil Delight, and retired Light Rich Razzleberry.
    • The Sky was colored with Balmy Blue ink applied with a Blending Brush.
    • The panel was hand-torn exposing the Very Vanilla edges.  Finished size (2½” x 3½”)
  • Sentiment Banner: Orange toned cardstock scrap from my bin – possibly Peach Parfait.
    • The sentiment, Thinking of You…with a Grateful Heart, from the same stamp set was stamped into Versamark ink and then into Early Espresso ink and then heat-set with Clear Embossing Powder using the Clear Color Embossing Technique.
    • The sentiment shape was created with the Banner Pick a Punch.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch with both the Focal Panel and Sentiment popped up with Dimensionals.  Additionally, Linen Thread was wrapped around the Background Panel.

September and the promise of Fall.  Swirling Leaves and Pumpkin Harvests.  As per the quote: It is never to late to plant a tree to enjoy all of it’s beauty in every season.
