Christmas in July…a popular theme. My choices were influenced by a few other challenges: Double Trouble (#142) partnering with Jingle Belles (#2314) to incorporate Stars and/or Stripes; Caffeinated Christmas (#19) is also looking for a Star; and Happy Little Stampers (July) asks to add Christmas Twinkle.

I chose the colors suggested by Color Dare (#555) and the sketch over at Retro Rubber (#210) to complete the card.

Here is the result:

Steps:
- Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Poppy Parade cardstock.
- Background Panel: (3½” x 5”) Crumb Cake Cross-Hatch patterned piece of paper from the retired He’s All That Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.
- The small Twinkle Star image from the retired Holiday Invitation (Circa 2014) stamp set was stamped repeatedly with Poppy Parade ink.
- Back Shape: (2’ x 3”) basic White cardstock scrap.
- Using a Ruler and my Black Pentel Fine-Tipped Liquid Gel Pen, diagonal lines were drawn every (¼”).
- The Stripes were colored with the Light variant of the Stampin’ Blends Markers. Colors chosen: Poppy Parade (for Candy Apple); Starry Sky (for Sapphire); retired Mint Macaron (for Sage); Cherry Cobbler (for Scarlet); and Crumb Cake (as the Neutral).
- Black Scribble Lines were added with the Pentel Pen between the stripes to match the style of the Coffee Cup stamp image.
- Forward Shape – Coffee Cup: Crumb Cake, Basic White and Cherry Cobbler cardstock scraps.
- The Coffee Cup image from the retired Perfect Blend (circa 2013) stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto each color of cardstock.
- Shading was added to the Crumb Cake Coffee Cup with the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend Marker.
- The Basic White Lid and the Cherry Cobbler Sleeve were fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
- The Lid was colored with the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend Marker.
- Using the retired small Star Punch, two Stars were punched from a scrap of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter Paper. One star was cut in half. The Stars were added to the Cherry Cobbler Sleeve.
- The Lid and the Sleeve were adhered in place on the Crumb Cake Coffee Cup.
- Sentiment Banner/Flag: (2¾” x ½”) Basic White cardstock scrap colored with the Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blend Marker.
- The sentiment, BE MERRY, from the Holiday Invitation stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then die-cut with the Banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch. The Banner was tucked under the Coffee Cup which was popped up with Dimensionals.
Happy are those that find time to stop for a coffee when doing their Christmas shopping.
