Sending 1, 2, 3 and more Birthday Wishes

I needed a birthday card for a sweet little friend.

So, I opted to combine the following challenges:  Seize the Birthday (#264) with Critter Crazy (#76) and using the suggested Color Throwdown (#749) colors as I selected one of my favorite little turtle images from the retired Older & Wiser stamp set.  He is so darn cute and I thought he would look good dressed in those super party colors!  For the sketch, I chose the square element presented by Freshly Made (#592) and popped it onto a regular sized greeting card.

Here is the result:

OLDER & WISER – STB264 – 2CCCB76 – CTD749 – FMS592

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (3⅜” x 4⅝”) Basic White cardstock dry-embossed with the Bubble Dot Basics 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Accent Mat: (2⅝” x 2⅝”) Polished Pink cardstock scrap from my bin.
  • Focal Image: (2½” x 2½”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Turtle image from the retired Older & Wiser stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • The Turtle was colored with Stampin’ Blends MarkersShell and Party Hat – Light Orchid Oasis and retired Dark Polished Pink, Shell Spots – Dark Polished Pink, Turtle – Light and Dark Parakeet Party, Toes and Grounding – Light Smoky Slate.
    • Using my Pentel Fine-Tipped Liquid Gel Pen, I free-handed the Numbers and Flower on the Shell Spots.
  • Sentiment Banner: (2¼” x ¼”) Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Sending Birthday Wishes, from the same stamp set was stamped with Orchid Oasis ink.
    • The Banner Points were cut by hand with Paper Snips and the Banner was highlighted by running the Light Orchid Oasis Stampin’ Blend Marker around the edges.
