Mid-Century Modern Hello

Welcome back!  I am back…

Today’s card was inspired by the cover of a book, Mid-Century Modern Design by Thames & Hudson, that was on my friend’s coffee table.

Colors: Color Dare (#551); Theme: Just Us Girls (#683); Style: Krafty Chicks (#668); and Stencils: Happy Little Stampers (June) for the current Facebook Case-ing Tuesday (#412) Sketch.

Here is the result.

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Smoky Slate cardstock.
• Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Gorgeous Grape cardstock.
• Focal Panel: (3¾” x 5”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Two Straight Lines were drawn with a Ruler on to the panel with my Pentel Extra-Fine Liquid Gel Pen as a guide.
  • Stencils were made from Copy Paper (4¼” x 5½”) and various Oval and Circle dies.
  • Using Blending Brushes, Masking Paper strips and the Stencils, the Blueberry Bushel (for Bluebird), retired Peach Parfait (for Nectarine), Gorgeous Grape (for Grape) and Smoky Slate (for a Neutral) shapes were added along the Straight Lines.
  • The Dots, Triangles and Diamonds were added along the Straight Lines, also with the Gel Pen.
  • The Diamond Lines were then drawn on with the Gel Pen and the Ruler.
  • The word, hello, from the Artistically Inked stamp set was added with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
  • The completed panel was dry-embossed with the On-Line Exclusive Cross-Hatch Basics 3D Embossing Folder.

The two panels were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch for a clean and simple greeting card.

Inspiration is everywhere.
