The Traveler – Celebrating You

Happy Saturday…Welcome back!

A few deadlines and a several complimentary challenges: As You See It (#300) with the theme Adventure; Tic Tac Toe (#211) with a line that includes a Travel theme, a Die-Cut and something Antique; and choosing masculine Sepia tones for Paper Craft Crew (#522) Masculine theme; bringing it all together with the current sketch from Try Stampin’ On Tuesday (#608).

Here is the result:

BESIDE ME – TRAVELER – THE OPEN SEA – AYSI300 – TTTC211 – PCC522 – TSOT608

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Early Espresso cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5¼” x 3⅞”) Pecan Pie cardstock die-cut with the Large Rectangle die from the On-Line Exclusive Radiating Stitches Dies set.
  • Focal Panel: (4⅛” x 2¾”) Crumb Cake cardstock.
    • The corners were punched with retired Corner Rounder Punch.
    • The Passenger List image from the retired The Open Sea stamp set was stamped on the left side with 2nd Generation Pecan Pie ink (stamped off once).
    • The Steam Train image from the retired Traveler stamp set was stamped with Copper Clay ink.
  • Decoration: Globe and Passport: Naturals Ivory cardstock (from my scrap bin) and Very Vanilla cardstock.
    • The Globe image from the retired The Open Sea stamp set was stamped with Pecan Pie ink and then die-cut with the (2”) Stitched Circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
    • The Passport image from the retired Traveler stamp set was stamped with 2nd Generation Copper Clay ink and then fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
  • Sentiment Flag: (1½” x ⅝”) Early Espresso cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Celebrating You Today, from the Beside Me stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • The sentiment was hand-flagged with Paper Snips.
  • All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble a version of the sketch.

It would have been a big adventure to travel in the days of the Steam Trains but what great fun it must have been.

  3. Oh, Jolanda – such a lovely homage to vintage travel! The gorgeous sepia tones and old fashioned accounts in the background conjures up a by-gone era. I’m immediately thinking of the Orient Express and a touch of Agatha Christie! Thank you for joining in our 300th Challenge at As You See It.

  6. Great vintage themed travel card. I wonder if travel by steam train was as glamorous as the movies portray it or if was just tedious? Thanks for joining us for our 300th Challenge Celebration at As You See It.
