Winter Fun – Spirited Snowman

Having a bit of fun with a bunch of challenges today.  Principally, the Facebook Case-ing Tuesday (#392).  While there may not be any snow here in my neck of the woods, there sure is a lot from where I came from…let’s go skating!

My choices were influenced by:  Retro Rubber (#198), Four Seasons (January), Shopping Our Stash (#488), Can You Handle The Pressure (#23) and Cupcake Inspiration (#561).

Here is the result:

SPIRITED SNOWMEN – CT392 – RRCB198 – TFS Jan – SOS488 – CYHTP23 – CIC561

Steps:

  • Case Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Smoky Slate cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4¼” x 5½”) Smoky Slate cardstock dry-embossed with the Snowflake Wintry 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Diagonal Panel: (4¼” x 1¼” x 2½”) Dotted Smoky Slate patterned piece of paper from a retired Neutrals Designer Series Paper pack (possibly 2015).
  • Focal Panel: (3¼” x 4½”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Snowflake image from the retired Spirited Snowmen stamp set (circa 2018) was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • A watercolor wash was added with the Large-Tipped Water Painter Brush with both Smoky Slate and Balmy Blue inks.
    • Once dry, the sentiment: Winter Cheer, was added with Sweet Sorbet ink.
  • Focal Image – Skating Snowman: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The Snowman was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers. Colors: Cherry Cobbler Light, Smoky Slate Light and Dark, Calypso Coral Light and for shading definition, Balmy Blue Light.
    • The Snowman was fussy cut with Paper Snips.

All elements were assembled to reflect the original sketch sample.  The Snowman was popped up with Dimensionals.

If you have a favorite retired stamp set, it is always fun to pull it out…shop your stash and get nostalgic.
