All The Good Things – Good Fortune and more…

Our current challenge at CARDZ 4 GUYZ (#278) is THINGS WITH TAILS.

What has a tail?  A coin, a kite, an airplane, an animal, a fish…not sure what else but I settled on a fish, a Koi fish or two.

Here is what I came up with:

ALL THE GOOD THINGS – C4G278 – TCH24 – JAI568

Steps:

  • Hunting for a “Tail”, I came across the retired All The Good Things stamp set in my stash and thought the Koi Fish would be an excellent choice for our theme this round.  Both the Small Koi and Large Koi were stamped with Calypso Coral ink onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock and then fussy cut with Paper Snips.
  • I chose a piece (3⅞” x 4¾”) of green/gold (turquoise) patterned paper from the Expressions In Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper for the background as it looked like swirling water in a beautiful pond.
  • I added an accent frame in Basic White cardstock (4¾” x 5”).
  • The sentiment, Good Fortune…, from the same stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink onto a scrap of Gold Foil cardstock (1⅛” x 1⅞”) and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
  • A little bit of retired Gold Cord was used as an embellishment along the right side of the card under the sentiment label.

To finish off the card, I chose a Shaded Spruce card base (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) to bring out more of the turquoise (blue/green) coloring.  The sentiment label and the Koi Fish were popped up with Dimensionals.

The colors chosen were suggested by the Color Hues Challenge (#24) and the sketch choice was from Just Add Ink (#568) and I did a 90 degree flip to accommodate my elements.  Love that you can find inspiration all over the blog world to jump start your creativity!

What have you got in your stash that will work for the theme…Things with Tails? I made a number of suggestions above.  I look forward to seeing what you create.

This is a great card to send to someone who has graduated or someone embarking on a new job or adventure.
