Nature’s Harvest – Thinking of You

Continuing with my less is more theme for my WEEKEND CHALLENGE to you – SIMPLICITY, I created this elegant and simple card to show you what can do.

I discovered a new blog challenge group: Less Is More which completely supports the concept of Simplicity.  What fun! A new challenge to keep my eye on and share with you.

I chose the current layout presented by the Tuesday Morning Sketches team.

Here is the result:

NATURE’S HARVEST – IN THE PINES – TMS618 – LIM449

Steps:

  • Focal Image: (1½ x 2”) The Cornflower image from the Nature’s Harvest stamp set was stamped in the lower right corner with Sahara Sand ink onto a Very Vanilla Panel (4” x 5¼”).  The Cornflowers were colored Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green and Garden Green using watercolor pencils from the Assortment #2 Watercolor Pencils Pack.  The colors were smoothed out and blended with a Blender Pen for a softer water color look.
  • Square Shape: (2⅛” x 2⅛”) The embossed impression of the stitched square was created by using the Impression Mats with the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and one of the square dies from the retired Stitched Shapes Dies set.  The stitching creates a nice finished effect framing the Focal image on the panel.
  • Sentiment:  I chose Thinking of You.  The sentiment was stamped with Sahara Sand ink above the Focal image and a little to the left as per the sketch.  There are many sets with this sentiment and I grabbed the one from the retired In The Pines stamp set because the font is pretty and it was close at hand.
  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock for a tone-on-tone look. The card front panel was popped up with Dimensionals for added interest.

A very soft and subtle card appropriate for many occasions. Do you like it? Roadside Cornflowers always make me happy because they look so pretty.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.   Cheers,  Jolanda!
