Friday Simple Stamping – Seasonal Birthday

 October 16th, 2020

This week the chosen theme for Simple Stamping is Birthday using Seasonal Colors.

Featured are the stamp sets Happiest of Birthdays and Bloom & Grow.  Open line images beg to be colored and I used three different mediums for the coloring on these cards. Each card has a clean and simple esthetic.

Easy – Happy B-Day

The sentiment from Happiest of Birthdays is stamped in Cajun Craze and the smaller leaf images from Bloom & Grow are stamped in a somewhat circular pattern around it with Mint Macaron on to Shimmery White card stock.  I chose this light color as I wanted to add brighter colors using the fine-tip Water Painter but still keeping the image soft.  Color could have been added using a Blender Pen also.  Shimmery White card stock holds up nicely to light water coloring.

Step Up (1) – Wishing You…

For this card, the sentiment is the focal point.  I added the little leaf images around it to give it an organic look.  I colored the images with dry Water Color Pencils in essentially two tones – Old Olive and Cajun Craze.  I think this allows the card to have a slight masculine feel.

The Step-Up is adding a second layer of color to frame the stamped image.   Not too much and still very clean.

Step Up (2) – It’s Your Day!

Again, this is also a relatively simple card.  Interest is created by adding a layer of color (Granny Apple Green) in only one corner.  The floral image from Bloom & Grow is more complex and has been colored with a variety of Stampin’ Blends: Calypso Coral light and dark, Granny Apple Green light, Old Olive light and Mango Melody dark.  The ability to blend and shade with the Stampin’ Blends adds depth and dimension.

The sentiment is tucked into the leaves of the image in a coordinating color.  Here, I chose to use Calypso Coral.

I like these cards. Do you? Drop me a note and let me know which is your favorite and why.
