A Rainbow of Thanks

Welcome back!  Design Team Time for Facebook’s Case-ing Tuesday (#557).  Where we select cards from the Catalogs and remake them as we are inspired.  Today’s inspiration can be found on page 42 of the Jan – Apr Mini Catalog.

My design choices were influenced by the Inkspirational (#363) Visual Prompt of the Multi Color Panel and the Christmas or Not Bingo (#18) Board – Letter G, choosing Rainbow, Make Your Own Background and Free (Adding Circles).

Here is the result:

A RAINBOW OF THANKS – CT557 – IC363 – CONCB18

Steps:

  • Background Technique: (11” x 15”) 140lb Watercolor Paper (personal stash).
  • I experimented with the Brusho Colour Crystals when they first became available (now retired) and created a multi-colored watercolor page by sprinkling the crystals and adding water with a Stampin’ Spritzer and waited to see what happened.  I needed the right project to come along to chop it up.

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White Thick cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (3¾” x 5”) Colored Watercolor Paper cut section.
  • Cross Strip: (3¾” x 2”) Vellum Specialty Paper.
    • Triple Stripes: Using the Medium Paint Strip image from the A Rainbow of Thanks stamp set, an On-Line Exclusive product, Timid Tiger, Night of Navy and Real Red inks were added to right-side of the Vellum.  Completing the Stripes, the Paint Brush image, from the same stamp set was added with Memento Tuxedo Black ink to the left-side.  The ink drying was sped up by using the Heat Tool.
    • The back-side of the Paint Stripes were enhanced by coloring with the same color Stampin’ Blends Markers, as were the Bristles of the Paint Brushes.  The Handles of the Paint Brushes were colored with the Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends Marker.
  • Shapes – Circles: (2⅛”), (1⅝”) and (1¼”) Stitched Circle dies from the Stylish Shapes Dies set were used.  The larger and smaller circles were cut from the Colored Watercolor Paper.
    • The sentiment, A Rainbow of thanks, from that stamp set was stamped with Night of Navy ink onto a scrap of Watercolor Paper and then die-cut.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.

A fun card to put together…
