Otterly Awesome – Birthday Time

Welcome back!  Guest challenge number two for March as a Crazy Cousin with the Double Trouble Family.

Challenge (#212) features 3 Colors (Primary and Neutral), 2 Images and 1 Sentiment with a Twist to add a Four-Legged Animal.  I have 2 Primary and 3 Neutral Colors, an image on the front and one inside, and an appropriate Sentiment.

The Challenge also suggests we partner with Try A Sketch On Tuesday (#691) and Critter Crazy (#108).

I am also sharing with this card with We Love Stamping (#2603) featuring Wildlife as a theme this month.

Here is the result:

AWESOME OTTERS – DT212 – TSOT691 – 2CCCB108 – WLS2603

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 2⅛” and 6⅜”) Basic White cardstock for a Gate Fold card.
    • The sentiment, You are Otterly Awesome, from the retired Awesome Otters stamp set was stamped on the left-side flap with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
  • Inside Panel: (3¾” x 5”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Swimming Otter image, from the same stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, as was the sentiment, It’s Birthday Time!
    • The Otter image was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Fur – Bronze; Belly – Light Crumb Cake; Eyes and Water – Light Summer Splash; and Nose – Light Flirty Flamingo.
  • Shapes – Circles: Flirty Flamingo and Summer Splash cardstock scraps die-cut with the (¾”); (1¼”); and (1¾”) Stitched Circle dies from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
  • Circle Accent Mat and Liner: (6¼” x 3¼”) Summer Splash cardstock die-cut twice with the (3”) Stitched Circle die from the same Dies set.
  • Focal Circle: (2½” x 2½”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Hugging Otter image was also stamped with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored with the same Stampin’ Blends Markers.
  • Decoration – Party Hats: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The Party Hat image was stamped twice with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with the Flirty Flamingo and Summer Splash Stampin’ Blends Markers and then fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  One Party Hat was popped up with Mini Dimensionals and the other was added to the inside of the card.

A fun and bright birthday card suitable for anyone.
