Forever Florals – Thinking of You

Welcome back!  Monday and off to a “quick” start.

I have taken up the As You See it (#367) Speed Challenge.  Create a card in less than 10 minutes featuring the color, Purple.

Usually, I go for high speed with a clean and simple card.  Today, I wanted to try something different.  I chose to CASE (copy and selectively edit) a card created by Stef Perry for Time Out (#308).  I liked the sketch layout and the bold flowers.

While Time Out is celebrating their 12th Anniversary, which is amazing, we are invited to create a card for any occasion.  So, I selected to create a card that fits the Can You Handle the Pressure (#260228) Sympathy Twist.

Here is the result:

FRIENDLY FOLIAGE – FOREVER FLORAL DIES – AYSI367 – TOC308 – CYHTP260228

For speed challenges, it is important to plan out your design and gather all your materials. Papers, Stamps, Ink, and Tools all lined up to facilitate the process.  I wanted to use a darker purple color and chose retired Elegant Eggplant, which I still have in my stash bin.

Materials:

  • Cardstock – (8½” x 11”) Elegant Eggplant; (4¼” x 5½”) Highland Heather; (3” x 1¼”) Fresh Freesia scrap; (4¼” x 5½”) Basic White,
  • Designer Series Paper: (6” x 6”) 2025 / 2026 Regals Collection – Striped Gorgeous Grape pattern.
  • Dies: Forever Florals, Lovely Arrangements.
  • Ink: Versamark.
  • Embossing Folder: Beautiful Pattern 3D
  • Other: White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, (4”) Highland Heather Organdy Ribbon.

Set the Timer and go!

  1. The Elegant Eggplant cardstock was cut in half (8½” x 5½”) and folded in half for the card base.
  2. The other piece was cut in half (4¼” x 5½”) and the Floral die and the Label die were added and then run through the Cut & Emboss Machine and set aside.
  3. The Highland Heather cardstock was die-cut with the same Floral die and the two smaller Floral dies in one pass and then again with the mini “three flower” floral die for the extra piece.
  4. Similarly, the Fresh Freesia cardstock scrap was die-cut with the Floral dies.
  5. The Basic White cardstock was trimmed to (4” x 4”) and dry-embossed with the Beautiful Pattern 3D Embossing Folder.
  6. The Striped Designer Series Paper was trimmed to (4” x 5¼”).
  7. The sentiment, Thinking of You, from the Friendly Foliage stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.

Assembly

  1. The Designer Series Paper was added to the card base.
  2. Adhesive was applied to the top of the Basic White embossed panel, and the Ribbon was added before the panel was adhered to the card front.
  3. The Sentiment Label was added.
  4. The Floral Sprays were adhered in place, and the complimentary colored Flowers were then added.

A big breath!  Stop the timer!  How long do you think it took for me to make the card?

I am pretty happy with how it turned out…a few gluey fingers…but I managed to keep it off the card.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!
